This guy lives on the grounds of the High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, NC and he loves to be fed apples. My niece had her wedding there almost 2 years ago. Boy how time flies. It was a beautiful setting and a great weekend to visit with friends and family.
This painting comes framed in an espresso colored frame with gold trim and is available on my Daily Paintworks page.

A couple of years ago we went to our friends farm in Watertown, TN. Bountiful Acres Farm had a visit your farm day for kids and urbanites to experience a farm first hand. It wasn't the peaceful idyllic setting I imagined a farm to be. There was a lot of activity going on! There were sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, and guinea fowl. It was late Spring which means babies on a farm. So adorable! The momma goat was kind of freaking out with all the strangers looking at her babies. But this rooster was only interested in getting his grub on.
This painting comes in a black wooden floater frame. Here is how it looks framed.

My husband and I went to Cedar Point this summer to ride the roller coasters, just the two of us. And we had a blast! They've got some awesome roller coasters. This one was called the Raptor because your feet dangled as if a bird of prey had picked you up and was doing crazy air stunts. Makes you want to regurgitate your food, too.

There are several places that inspire me artistically. Chattanooga is one of them. It's a beautiful city with the river and bridges and public art everywhere. It's a great place to be outside! This is the Market Street Bridge at dusk. The lights reflected in the river were fun to paint.

My art teacher, Pat Thompson, taught me that hands are not difficult to paint or draw if you break them down into parts. Each finger has 3 parts separated by joints. She is much more accomplished than I am. I still find them challenging.

American Artist Appreciation Month
I did not realize that August was American Artist Appreciation month until I learned from the folks at Patience Brewster (where they make these beautiful handcrafted gifts and ornaments) encouraging me to post about American Artists (past or present) that inspire my work.
There are so many that inspire me that it's hard to name just one. But I'll start with Karin Jurick, a current artist whose work I admire.
I love the vibrant colors she uses and her wide variety of subject matter. It was her practice of painting small and often that inspired me to post paintings on Daily Paintworks and to start a blog. She is a prolific painter and I love getting a message in my e-mail when she's posted a new painting on her blog A Painting Today. They always inspire me to paint.
