I spotted these boats that were put up for the night  in Apalachicola, Florida, a neat little fishing village on the "Forgotten Coast."  They've managed to preserve the historical buildings in town and limit the high rise condos along the coast.  I hope it stays that way.  This painting is framed in a beautiful gold frame, ready for hanging.  Click here to see a picture of the frame.

"The Girl with the Yellow Skirt"

Dancing the folk dance of her native land, Mexico, she swirls, she twirls, she dances feeling beautiful in her dress. What a gift to be able to celebrate her heritage.  This painting as been accepted into the Tennessee Art League juried art show to be held at TSU's downtown Nashville campus.  The show runs from Nov 3, 2016 to January 3, 2017.

"Grace Revealed"
8 x 10
Oil on Linen
"Much Joy to Behold"
8 x 10
Oil on Linen

These two love birds were commissioned for a collector's birthday present.  The female cardinal has a subtle beauty and is not as easy to spot.  Grace can be like that.  You have to pay attention, sometimes to notice it, but it's there.  The male cardinal is a flash of red and you really have to be asleep not to notice him.  His bright color brings me much joy.

Meet Bella.  She has such a regal aura about her, even when playing in the river, and is striking to behold.  This pet portrait was painted as a gift to a family friend.

So many of us need to know where we come from.  This young woman is proud of her ancestral roots.  Yet I like to think she is looking forward, not knowing what the future holds, going with hope that she will not only persevere, but thrive.  Inspiration from Celebrate Nashville.

This is of the beautiful bluffs area of the Harpeth River.  Captain Jim of Blue Heron Cruises took a group of artists on a late afternoon scenic nature cruise up the Cumberland River into the mouth of the Harpeth to see the bluffs area.  Nice ride on a pontoon that I highly recommend!  I hope to include this painting in the Chestnut show benefiting the Cumberland River Compact in late October.

Another for the "Scenes of the Harpeth" show.  The organizers of the show requested many different subjects for the paintings, one of which was birds natural to the Harpeth River water shed area. The ubiquitous cardinal was specifically listed and I was happy to oblige.

This painting will also be included in the show "Scenes of the Harpeth", August 18-20, 2016 sponsored by The Chestnut Group in partnership with the Harpeth River Watershed Association. I often see blue herons roosting in the trees around the river.  They are the epitome of patience, standing perfectly still for long periods, waiting for a fish to come within striking distance.

"Market Street Bridge"

"Market Street Bridge"
12"  x  8"
Oil
I've survived another tax season!!!  Now that it's over and I'm starting to recover (seems like it takes longer each year), I am eager to get back to painting.  A creative outlet brings balance to my life and painting is my favorite way to create.  I'm excited to share that this painting has been selected to be included in the Tennessee Art League's show that will be exhibiting at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, TN May through August.  If you are in the area, please stop by to see the show.  The bridge in the painting is located in beautiful Chattanooga, TN - one of my favorite cities and the city of my birth.  I started this en plein air (outside) and finished it in the studio.  Hope you like it.

Grubbin'

A couple of years ago we went to our friends farm in Watertown, TN.  Bountiful Acres Farm had a visit your farm day for kids and urbanites to experience a farm first hand.  It wasn't the peaceful idyllic setting I imagined a farm to be.  There was a lot of activity going on!  There were sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, and guinea fowl. It was late Spring which means babies on a farm.  So adorable! The momma goat was kind of freaking out with all the strangers looking at her babies.  But this rooster was only interested in getting his grub on.

This painting comes in a black wooden floater frame.  Here is how it looks framed.

Today was a cold January day in Middle Tennessee with the first ice and snow of the year thanks to winter storm Ilias.  (When did they start naming winter storms?)  So here is a painting to "take you away" somewhere were there is a warm tropical breeze blowing.   Thankfully, winter doesn't last forever.

I am selling this painting framed in a simple maple floater frame - ready to hang.  Here is how it looks framed.
